Delta Phi Mu Sorority Inc. was founded on August 28, 1991, at Purdue University with hopes to create a true sisterhood based upon service, scholarship, and intercultural exchange.  As a Latina-Based Sorority that has expanded to be inclusive of ALL women, Delta Phi Mu is built upon a foundation of academic excellence, support, guidance, and assistance to others. The Distinguished Ladies of Delta Phi Mu strive to continue this legacy by acting as role models for ALL women in social, religious, and academic affairs. 

Our sisterhood continues to be built upon a foundation of academic excellence, support, guidance, and assistance to others. Delta Phi Mu Sorority, Incorporated was founded to unite college women interested in Hispanic culture, to encourage and motivate academic achievements, and to promote sisterhood, guidance, love and friendship among the members of the sorority. Delta Phi Mu Sorority, Inc. is continuing to expand to all points of the globe with the hopes of making a difference in the lives of all race, color and creed. In the spring of 1999 a group of women came together in search of an organization that was established to make a difference in the lives of ALL WOMEN; feeling the lack of unity among women of ALL races and cultures they sought an organization that demonstrated academic excellence, friendship and sisterhood.  Vision in hand these STRONG, COURAGEOUS, and DETERMINED women found in Delta Phi Mu Sorority, Inc. that and more.

Although uncertain of what the future might hold, on July 31,1999, Susan Marie Czub, Kenisha Nicole Lindsay, Marina Cecilia Rentas, Twyla Aneesha Turner, and Linda Michelle Vela set out to bring Delta Phi Mu at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. On December 5,1999 their dream was finally realized when the hand of sisterhood was extended to the women at Southern Illinois University; the first school to begin the National Expansion of Delta Phi Mu Sorority Inc.

In doing so, these newly accepted women vowed to continue the legacy of Delta Phi Mu. They made a promise to bring about change to Southern Illinois University by Promoting academice excellence, community service and the unification of all women. They promised to support, guide and assist the Hispanic community and all others to make a difference.

In just a few short months the dedication of these women was recognized as Delta Phi Mu became a Registered Student Organization at SIUC on March 22, 2000. By April 15, 2000 M.I.S.T.I.C.A.S., their first school was initiated into sisterhood. After much work and dedication the sisters at SIUC were officially chartered on Feburary 16, 2001, and incorporated on Feburary 24, 2001. They will forever be known as the Beautiful Beta Chapter.

As Delta Phi Mu Sorority Inc. continues to grow at SIUC they will continue to excel academically, provide phillanthropic service, and bring multiculturalism into their familia. "Different Worlds, One Sisterhood!"
